The Purple Lotus School was approved and certified by the U.S. Student and Exchange Visitor Program [SEVP] under the Department of Homeland Security [DHS] as the eligible school to issue I-20 since 2005. We have an international program that offers students from abroad the opportunity to study in the United States.

According to the Center for Global Education, studying abroad is one way that students can be best introduced to the culture and citizens of the rest of the world. Studying and living in a different culture will help them see the world from a completely different perspective. During their time abroad, they will be exposed to different experiences. It will be an amazing experience that will influence the rest of their life.

Below are some of the key reasons why studying abroad would be beneficial for the student:

This will be a first hand experience for the student as the Purple Lotus School is located in a multi-cultural community in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area in California, USA. This translates to language, food, ethnic cultures, standard of living, appearance and style, and much more.

Checklist


Here is a quick checklist to help the student prepare and adjust to studying abroad:

Predeparture Planning

  • I have compared ticket prices offered by travel agents, student agencies and websites
  • I have a valid passport and visa
  • I know whether or not my program requires me to show proof of insurance, provide a doctor’s letter or confirmation of sufficient funds
  • I have made multiple copies of all important travel documents

Methods of Communication while Abroad

I know all the important telephone and fax numbers and addresses for my program’s office in the U.S. and abroad, including emergency after-hours numbers.
